Every few months we’ll be updating you on the progress made on the Texas Youth Permanency Study (TYPS). This study is a 5-year longitudinal study following 500 foster youth who are 14 – 21 years old at time of recruitment. Participant recruitment occurs at child welfare courts across Texas.
During the COVID-19 crisis, we have focused on staying in touch with our study participants through quarterly follow-up surveys and phone interviews. A total of 112 of our 195 study participants have responded to at least one follow-up survey. Right now, we are busy interviewing youth to learn how COVID-19 is affecting their placements and relationships with caregivers, peers, and birth families.
